It hasn't rained today!
The day began (as most seem to here) with a climb of 200m to high above the Jucar Gorge.
The reward for this effort was a 20km downhill following the river towards Cuenca. We rose up above the river again and took a quiet road into the old town of Cuenca. Splendid buildings, but so much traffic!
Getting out of Cuenca was horrible, the new part of town was choked with traffic and we had to follow a busy road for several km before turning off onto a quiet and pretty route. We've spent so many days in such quiet areas that all this came as a bit of a shock.
The scenery has changed this side of Cuenca. Gone are the wild mountains which have been our companions for the last few days. We are now in a more rolling, arable countryside. Bright green fields of young wheat contrast with the red soil.
A headwind was slowing us down - but of course this is La Mancha, Don Quixote country and full of windmills!
After a long day we are now camping at Olmedilla.
Uña to Olmedilla 103km, 1000m ascent.
