Day 3 Hills, distance, panic and luxury

Today dawned bright and sunny, but as usual very cold. We packed our rather damp tent and headed off uphill - 600 metres of it.

Camping at Osor

The valley was beautiful as it rose and only about 10 cars passed us on the whole route.
The day continued with spectacular views, more climbs and descents, rain and sun and lots of stopping to shed or add layers of clothing.
We were aiming for Manresa where Google informs us that there is a campsite.

After 1600 metres of climbing and 96 km - the last 30km being an exhilarating descent as a reward for all the climbing, we finally made it to the campsite. It was closed! It was a further 3km into Manresa where the first hotel we tried was "completo". By now it was 9.00 pm, fairly dark and we were getting rather worried to say the least. Finally we found a lovely hotel in the centre at a price we wouldn't normally contemplate, but after two nights in a wet tent this is wonderful. The room is enormous and they very kindly suggested that we brought the bikes in with us. With a bed bigger than our tent we look forward to a good night's sleep before another long day tomorrow. Let's hope the campsite at Montblanc is open!

Osor to Manresa 100km 1600m ascent.
