Leaving our smart hotel in Manresa |
We left the hotel after a good breakfast and eventually found our way out of Manresa.
The road started climbing immediately, but spectacular views of the jagged mountain chain of Montserrat made up for that.
It was a very quiet road. The Spanish tend not to upgrade roads, but to build completely new ones leaving the old road for cyclists and locals.
We've been interested to see yellow ribbons painted on the roads and tied around many trees and lampposts in every village and town we've passed through in Catalunya, which along with many posters calling for the release of political prisoners and respect for democracy show the strength of feeling for the independence party here.
Old mule bridge leading into the medieval town of Montblanc.
We're camping in Montblanc after 96 hilly kilometres - probably only a mere 1000m climb.
