Day 33 Cazalegas to Pelayos de la Presa

It was fortunate that we had a very easy day yesterday as today was very tough. We seemed to make a huge amount of vertical progress - rather slowly on very rough roads! To compensate for all this effort we were rewarded with a beautiful day and stunning far-reaching views. The road was almost entirely traffic-free too. We passed through just a few very sleepy villages.

We've hardly met any touring cyclists in the last few hundred kilometres and when we do it's always an excuse to stop for a chat and to exchange notes on the route. Today we met a young couple from Holland (most tourers are) who were heading to Lisbon at high speed. It was nice to be able to hear a bit about the next section of our route.

We've now covered 2300km and have climbed more than 20,000m.

Cazalegas to Pelayos de la Presa - 72km, 1300m ascent .
